Windows 7 service pack gets leaked - Geek Smack

An early version of Windows 7's first service pack has been leaked to the net.

The SP1, which currently has no official release date from Microsoft, has become widely available to thousands of people through a range of torrent websites.

The leaked software,  which goes by the rather snappy name of '6.1.7601.16537.amd64fre.win7.100327-0053', is said to hint at what users can expect when the official service pack is released, and judging by initial reactions to the leaked version it seems Windows 7 users won't be subjected to the slow update misery that many experienced when downloading Vista service packs.

However, it doesn't seem users will get alot for their wait when the official version is released. Discussing the update in a blog post last month Microsoft said: "For Windows 7, SP1 includes only minor updates, among which are previous updates that are already delivered through Windows Update."
