Drivers up and down the UK want to seize the gigantic severed head of Brân the Blessed from King Arthur and have it record amusing messages for their delectation over GPS tracking devices.
Actually, it's thespian, darling, Brian Blessed that 25,000 people have campaigned for over Facebook. Brian Blessed played King Richard IV in the creepy first series of Black Adder and The Captain in one episode of 1998's Dennis the Menace cartoon serial.
He's a Yorkshireman famous for having a startlingly loud, booming voice, a big beard and being about three thousand feet tall. As the Lancashire propaganda goes: "Yorkshire Born, Yorkshire Bred, Thick in the Arm and Thick in the Head."
Driving man Richard Gardner from Manchester started a Facebook group a couple of years ago called "Campaign to get Brian Blessed to do a voice-over for my sat nav" - after checking up on it in February he realised his Facebook group had about 450 members. He started spreading the word before getting in touch with TomTom, which said it'd approach Blessed if the group got 25,000 supporters.
It's got 772 more than it needs and TomTom has now confirmed that this October Blessed will be making his way to its Sat Nav devices. It's good work if you can get it.
Good for Brian! Perhaps there is a burgeoning market for celebrity voices for sat navs..... Hmmmm..... I better copywrite or do something to protect this idea. Nah, I have better things to do with my time.
again, are we, Rich Wargo?
