Microsoft IE 9 gets 2.35 million downloads in 24 hours -

Software Imperium Microsoft is telling the world+dog that its latest version of Internet Exploder is doing rather well.

Apparently, IE9 has been downloaded 2.35 million times in the first 24 hours after its Monday release.

If you get out your calculators that is 27 times a second.

Writing in his bog, Ryan Gavin, Microsoft's Senior Vole for Internet Explorer Business and Marketing said that 2.3 million downloads in 24 hours is over double the one million downloads it  saw of the IE9 Beta and four times that of the IE9 RC over the same time period.

While it is not bad in comparison to the beta version of IE9, Vole  is not setting any records with its download numbers.

IE9's initial download numbers, are not as good as Firefox 3 which in 2008 was downloaded more than eight million times in its first day.

Vole appears to be on a winner with Internet Exploder. Critics have liked it because of its speed and the fact that it seems better designed and fits slightly better into web standards.

However, there is an element of Microsoft playing catch up with IE. We had a play with it, and it is as good as the latest Firebadger and Chrome. But those two browsers will move on soon, but IE 9 will be with us for a while and will be getting a bit stale fairly soon.
