US security think tank Strategic Forecasting Inc (Stratfor) has complained that its website had been hacked and that some of the names of corporate subscribers had been made public.
According to the Times of India, the hacker group Anonymous has claimed responsibility and said it had obtained around 4,000 credit card details, passwords and home addresses on Stratfor's private client list, which was posted on information-sharing website Pastebin.
Stratfor, is a "provider of of strategic intelligence" for business, economic, security and geopolitical affairs.
It announced that it was "working closely with law enforcement" in their investigation and will assist them with the identification of the individuals who are responsible.
However it does lead to the question of how Anonymous, which is not often linked to hi-tech hacks, managed to shut down an outfit which advises others on security.
There are so many easy ways in, when the bulk of staff at the bulk of corporations are actual morons. Go on a train in central London at rush hour, walk from one end to the other looking over shoulders, through glass barriers, at people's smartphones - in any given journey there are hundreds of leads to breaking and entering big companies. Just because it's a think tank for "security" doesn't mean they actually KNOW about security. In fact, what is apparent from all this is - that they do not.
