"Open Doors" college loses 43,000 students' personal information -

Messiah College in Philadelphia, a private Christian college, is making some headlines. It has ranked well in the latest International Education Open Doors report, which looks at the ability of colleges to send their students abroad.

It certainly has some success with "open doors": 43,000 students, prospective students, alumni and their family have had their personal information lost along with a vanishing hard drive.

The records range from 1994 through to 2010 and in some cases even contain social security numbers. The school's director of public relations, Beth Lorow, is presumably the very same who just a day ago boasted of the school's success with open doors.

Earlier this year an expert was called in to examine the institution's data and security policies.
