Boffins have found a flaw in the chip and pin system that means the whole thing needs re-working, according to BBC TV programme Newsnight. That's where the video report is..At the Newsnight link.
Scientists at a Cambridge team found a flaw, said Ross Anderson, talking to the BBC.
A stolen bank card is wired up to software tricking terminals into thinking that a PIN number works.
In the BBC experiment, four different cards were chosen at random. The UK Cards Association reckoned the flaw wasn't a flaw at all, but didn't answer BBC questions about whether or not the 0000 Pin number used seems to have been recognised by the banks.
How re-assuring.
which proved to be seriously Flawed remember?
Is the same UK Govt certified encryption guarding all the Data Basses which this Government are constantly adding our personal information to?
