It’s the monthly SciBar meet-up at the Port Mahon pub in St Clements, and we’re there to listen to what Professor Colin Blakemore has to say about the “War on Drugs”.
Blakemore, as well as being a professor of neuroscience at Oxford University, is also the CEO of the MRC and resident of the British Science Writer’s Association.
He said that 102 years ago a group of world leaders met in Shanghai to discuss the opium trade and that led to a concord of views of how to tackle the “problem”. A problem, may we say, that the British seriously exploited before it became a “problem”.
He said that when push comes to shove, politicians are scared to admit that there is a serious problem because they are frightened of losing their seats, that is to say, votes.
The official British attitude to drug use – that is to say drugs that aren’t booze and fags – is completely unscientific, said Blakemore. And the damage comes because the chains of supply are operated by crooks.
Even in countries like Portugal and the Netherlands, where the use of drugs has been de-criminalised, a blind eye is turned to the illegal supply chain. A piece he wrote for medical organ The Lancet three years ago showed that alcohol abuse was just behind street methadone. Sipping his pint, Blakemore said that if there was science in the argument, using alcohol and tobacco should justify a prison sentence of 14 years for supply.
“The science is more robust on the legal substances than the illegal,” he said. He suggested that if supply wasn't in the hands of criminals, drug use would be considerably reduced. A little debate started about whether if drugs were decriminalised, supply should be in the hands of government or large corporations. We’re already seeing corporations moving into cannabis supply in California, of course.
And there’s another problem, he said. So called “legal highs” are really hard to regulate because people, for example in Chinese labs, just swap a molecule or two out and the law can’t keep up with this phenomenon.

When there is no Purity within Desire, there can be no such thing as the Desire for Purity. Hands up those who are too intellectual or too wanton to see this point, the former being of stupidity with the latter being of dumbness. That’ll be 99.99% of humans then. If so, what is “The War on Drugs” and why is TWoD excluding cigarettes and acoholic “beverages”? When a problem is too intertwined and convoluted, it is called “Too Late” and those airy-fairies who use flowery prose like, “Eets never too late”, are the ones leading the charge towards their saviourship, whose sole duty is to elicit worship and once the two start to tango, the underlying reality can go to sleep. Back to Square One with the exception that someone has gained from the “Taxation Exercise” [of sorts]. When matters are too late, offering solutions is just another excuse for plunder under the guise of some control mechanism. This affliction then is called abandonment. A Simplicity which Eludes.
Humanity has no, as in zero, solution to the problems of Humanity and we are not talking about problems relating to erecting another skyscrapper, the birth of another Infinitiser or even starting another war. We are talking about the underlying intangiblity of behavioural inconsistency which is the root of all the problems within Humanity. Hands up those who are ready to exchange their status quo for some real peace and satisfaction - not even when one finally realises what peace and satisfaction truly are. For those struggling to count beyond their toes, which by some magical coincidence are always billionaires and zillionaires, peace and satisfaction means the realisation that Divinity exists and only He, through She, could gift peace and satisfaction. No if’s and but’s.
The true solution to any problem lies in its root and never its consequence. Those trying to resolve problems via consequence are not only lying to another, they are actually lying to their self, there being no case of insincerity which does not affect its source first in its attempt at being insincere to others. A case of abandonment trying to effect control which is a real joke. Due to the fact that Divinity exists, not as saviourship-worship but as Unity and Sharing, what most are experiencing and are able to see is meant to be. When you introduce two chimps to manage something requiring the intelligence which is beyond those chimps, you are actually expecting not so much as miracles but the chimps recognising of their limitation - for the chimp to realise that it is a chimp. Recognition, then, is the underlying reality behind Divinity and not blind-blinded faith and the myriad of nonsense FF&I dress as sense. As such, the solution to any problem lies with the recognition of the limits and limitations to the solutions available but don’t Quackery & Handler try, saviourship being a behavioural problem and not a material problem, material problems both being limited and speedily neutralisable.
[For example, the solution to Chosen Few-ism, a pet Tentacle of The Bookie, the One who profits from Disagreement, has to come from Divinity and not Humanity. Without the diaspora, the problem would never have materialised to the extent that it is, their diaspora being a problem introduced by the ancient Romans who, believe it or not, Christ was tasked to eliminate, the removal of behavioural inconsistency being through co-limitation between alteregos. In Christ’s case, it was/is Forgiveness & “Resurrection”, the ancient Romans being the ones who used The Swastika to promote destruction, an impossibility but they tried, The Swastika being The Cross with its “tips” removed, Christ being “resident” at {the Crossing of} The Optic Chiasma within the “spiritual body” of every human and not some annual opportunism at self-crucifixion.]
If the above is true and it is, how will any solution be realised. Through those humans who are able to transcend from Humanity to being Of Divinity, Divnity’s unconditionality being of Sharing & Unity and not of Selfishness & Division, the latter hallmark being etched onto the forehead of most humans. One’s price, so to speak whereas to become Absoluteness of Construction means lacking price, oka being priceless, the wetdream of every Infinitiser, human or otherwise. Especially those who promote solutions when they themselves have yet to resolve their very own problems, a speciality of humans and humanity. Sovling others’ problems, oka to effect control for yet another round of “Taxation”, be the beneficiaries private or ideological.
