  That's a relief then, given that Richard Branson doesn't run VirginMedia. Maybe you should ask VirginMedia's press office instead?

  I had something similar, ordered Sky as a replacement then gave Virgin one more chance. I wanted a weekend appointment and gave a weeks notice, more as a do you really want to keep me test (answer apparently is no) to send someone round to fix my problems.
  
  I ended up with Sky installed before Virgin could be arsed to send someone round.
  
  While the broadband isn't as fast on paper, it's cheaper and not traffic shaped so works out faster. So far it's been more reliable overall to.

  Hi Mike, I helped a disgruntled artiste occupy Virgin's office in Portobello Road in '77. I had a brief chat with suave Branson but I failed to suck up to him. Down here in Hove his broadband service is the subject of criticism, search VM broadband BN3 for details. I got fed up with his '10MB' service a few months ago so I tried '30MB'. When I complained that 30MB was more like 0.5MB in the evenings I was told by one of his people that I was not paying enough to get a good service. So I tried '50MB' which is a little bit better but still slows down to 0.5MB more often than I think it should, for the money. No doubt I am just an ungrateful moaner who should be grateful that I don't suffer from multi-week outages. 10 years ago I was over the moon getting rid of pay-by-the-minute 64KB ISDN and flying with the 3 month free trial which seemed to go on forever of BT ASDL (256KB i think then). I know the telecoms business is not as profitable as it used to be but there must be somebody out there who can offer a good service, for the money. Virgin got £400m off us taxpayers for buying Northern Rock. There must be some cash there to invest in more credible infrastructure. What do you reckon?
