I live in Oxford now - strangely Virgin Media has been down here for two weeks so I am using my T-Mobile dongle to connect to the interweb.
The guys in the Indian call centre are very nice, the engineers are very nice too when they tip up. I got offered a refund which is nice, but as I am an internet hack this is not quite good enough.
Virgin Media often floats a hot air balloon over Oxford to advertise its services. But, apparently, there is a shortage of broadband here in West Oxford so it's all hot gas - and no gaiters.
So when it will be fixed? Oh there is maybe a shortage of components and of engineers, apparently. Which Virgin strenuously denies. Bugger the customers then.
Richard Branson could not be contacted at press time - so situation normal.
I ended up with Sky installed before Virgin could be arsed to send someone round.
While the broadband isn't as fast on paper, it's cheaper and not traffic shaped so works out faster. So far it's been more reliable overall to.
