Toys R Us builds a tablet -

The kids of today apparently want a tablet and the toy retailer Toys R Us is keen to supply a cheap and cheerful device.

According to the Wall Street Jounal, the $150 kid-friendly 7-inch Tabeo tablet, running on Android, goes on sale this October.

Powered by a 1GHz processor, the multitouch tablet comes with 4GB of built-in storage. It has space to add on 32GB with a micro SDHC card

The tablet, which is packed full of parent controls, has built-in wi-fi, and allows kids to browse the internet.

A front-facing camera is included, as well as an HDMI port so children can connect the tablet to a TV. It also comes with 50 preloaded games, books, and educational apps. The plan is to set up a Tabeo store and offer 6,000 more apps.

The tablet is supposed to be a little more tough with a drop-safe bumper.

A Nielsen report two years ago suggested children want a tablet. Now there is the 7-inch Kurio tablet, the Meep and the Lexibook Junior.
