Beleaguered smartphone company Research in Motion (RIM) said it has introduced a range of additional devices globally through a network of 225 partners.
The range includes two BlackBerry Bold models and three BlackBerry Torch units using the BlackBerry 7 operating system. The BlackBerry Bold 9900 is 10.5 millimetres thick, includes support for near field communications (NFC) and a better keyboard.
RIM said it is its biggest global launch ever as it seeks to claw back market share from Apple and Android smartphone makers.
It claims the BlackBerry 7 OS includes a faster browser that will let people access web pages 40 percent faster than BlackBerry 6 based units, and 100 percent faster than BlackBerry 5s.
Each of the smartphones, said RIM, includes a high performance graphics processor, a faster CPU and better high res display.
RIM's partners will start rolling out “later this month”, but the statement from the company suggests availability in different countries won't be uniform.
