A little birdie tells us that Microsoft will be giving Nvidia a bit of a boost on Monday when it officially announces its Project Pink phones after months and months of speculation.
Although no one at Nvidia is willing to go on the record and confirm reports that the phones will indeed be using Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chip, the green graphics giant has been buzzing excitedly about Monday’s announcement, which all seems rather telling.
Tegra 2 doesn’t have too many design wins to date, so if Nvidia really has managed to sink the Pink, it would be a major coup for the firm.
We’ve written about Microsoft’s mysterious Pink before. If you’re not up to date, check out our previous coverage here and here.
Well M$ always had lots of cash to spare, taken by the windows tax in virtually every PC sold around the globe.
Given M$ record on gadget releases, anyone can tell this pink thingy will go belly up rather soon, unless it'll be given the same x360 project status, where it doesn't matter how much money is lost, they might give pink for free...
M$ and nVidia already had a chance to bring their partnership to fruition with the original xbox, and the zune HD (which is much alike this new pink). They failed. Maybe people doesn't like M$ branding in their products, as they tend to be seen as nerds. In fact, it's rather logical. When you think about apple, you see Stephen Jobs, in his black shirt and jeans. When you think about M$, there comes the Bill Gates image, with his big glasses and nerdy look. Ballmer isn't a looker too. Maybe M$ needs to change this image.
