Wikileaks may be under attack from many angles, but today it gained additional support from ex-intelligence officers, including the man who leaked the Pentagon Papers some fourty years ago, as well as the credit card processing company Datacell, which said it would sue Visa and MasterCard billions of Euros in damages for blocking Wikileaks.
Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked the Pentagon Papers in 1971, threw his support behind Wikileaks, saying that Wikileaks is just as important as his leak, which included over 7,000 pages of documents from the US military concerning the Vietnam War.
Ellsberg also said that attacks on Julian Assange are similar to attacks he endured after publishing the Pentagon Papers. He was brought up on charges of theft and possession of secret documents and was indicted, but a mistrial was later declared after it was revealed that the Nixon administration was attempting to meddle with the case. Assange faces far more serious charges of sexual assault, however, which have led to his arrest yesterday.
Ellsberg was strongly condemnatory of Amazon, which ended its web hosting of Wikileaks. He called the company's actions “cowardice and servility”, suggesting that it made its decision under pressure from Senators and Congressmen. Amazon has denied this, stating that Wikileaks broke its site rules, but Ellsberg said he will no longer use Amazon.com because of the incident.
Wikileaks has also been blocked by a number of other companies, including three essential financial bodies: PayPal, Visa and MasterCard. This will effectively cripple Wikileaks' ability to earn money to fund the exposure of confidential documents, with only 1,000 of the roughly 250,000 cables yet published.
The ban by Visa and MasterCard has not just upset Wikileaks, however. Datacell, which provides Wikileaks with the credit and debit card processing service required for its donations has accused the two companies of putting political influence above the law.
It said that it has lost billions due to the block and said it would sue Visa and MasterCard for damages, as the ban has threatened its business. It is not clear how successful such a lawsuit might be, but it is sure to be welcomed by Wikileaks and its supporters.

FULL DISPATCH from aboard the AF CHAPMAN anchored in Stockholm harbor:
The truth about who is behind the Julian Assange arrest in Sweden: a murky backstory surfaces - NSFW!
As you know, you have read the
accusations thrown at Julian Assange, and they are hilarious. The Swedish women were
certainly not raped. Tak...e some effort to find out what he really is
accused of and then you will see that the Swedish government is making
themselves look very silly. So does the US and Australian government.
And companies like Visa, Mastercard and Paypal also should be very
ashamed for blocking Wikileaks while at the same time supporting webistes run by the Klu Klux Klan. WTF? It's true.
But here is the shocker: READ SLOWLY BELOW:
At first the so-called alleged ''rape'' charges where dropped, but when
a new Swedish lawyer got the case, he took it to a new judge in Sweden who opened the
case again right after ''cablegate'' was announced. The only newspaper
in sweden that has been driving a campaign in this matter is
Expressen. No other newspaper actually really mentioned it since August.
Now it so
happens that the new lawyer is the brother of one of the journalists
on the Expressen newspaper.
He is also a former politician and is known to
have said such things as “All men bear a collective guilt to all
women” and has on several occations been very unorthodox in his
comments, sounding very much like a feminist.
The new judge that
opened the case and prosecuter are both known feminists too, and the
lawyer's other sister is a lawyer and a Christian priest. The woman
accusing Assange is an ultra-feminist and also a Christian, she is
known to have written an online list called “Ten ways to best revenge
on a man” and has written books and essays about how violent men are
towards women.
She actually paid the ticket for Assange to come to Sweden and
visit her, and make love to her, and the veyr next day after the supposed alleged trumped=up “rape” she went out and
bought him breakfast which she served him in bed.
So we already have a
bunch of complete nutcases in cooperation with a big Swedish tabloid paper
working the case for the good ol' USA/CIA/FBI/black ops.
On top of all this, in terms of how Swedes look at all this meshagus, it has now been shown via the wikileaks
documents that Sweden has been for quite some time a full
blown NATO member, and has lied to the people of sweden about this.
A Swede tells me onlinbe today: "I
live here in sweden and I am utterly ashamed of how easily bought our
politicians are. I am not surprised at all and rather happy about the
proof coming out so even the hardest doubters now will see with their
own eyes how lied to they have been. This is a clear case of toplevel
corruption and a good sign of what we the passive people of Sweden have created
by not acting or informing ourselves properly. Again, I'm truly happy
the truth is coming out and I feel the earth just took a huge leap
forward in the human evolution. Keep it up, Julian, we love you, but
most of all, we love the truth that you have showed us!
Maybe call it a WikiLEAP!?See More
