Man claims Google associates him with porn -

A case started in an Illinois district court against Google, with the plaintiff alleging its search engine associated him with pornography and worse.

Alex Petrov said in his filing that “Google is posting or showing sexually exploitative, homosexual,  pornographic material grouped with my name 'Alex Petrov' and creating a false link and connection between aforementioned activities and said name.”

To illustrate his point, Mr Petrov said in his allegation that search rankings, say for beef patty produced results and images for uncooked beef, images of cooked beef patties, as well as..images...connected through the word or name Patty, in this case used as an abbreviation of Patrick or Patricia.

Search engines, he alleges create associative platforms that are the equivalent of making false and defamatory statements regarding the individual and are punished by a similar standard.

He argues that a policy of “strict desegregation” should be adopted to preserve individual liberties, including the names of individuals, family names, and search results should not be associated with potentially offensive material.

He alleges that sexually exploitative imagery is shown by his name in Google's Image Search.  Google has refused to remove materials like this, he said.

We tried a search – perhaps you shouldn't try this at work or home – but couldn't see any image that wasn't completely innocuous. If you find different, don't let u know, OK?
