  Another example of the government turning the screws on the poor and downtrodden. Keep taking away sources of free information and entertainment from those who are the poorest and feeding the coffers of those who have the most. How the Feds and ICE can bother with this when Goldman Sacks is literally tearing the shirts of the backs of the American worker, and BP is raping our water, coast, and fishing industry, is beyond me. The US does not respect the WTO and other countries sovereignty when it comes to issues such as online gaming, but it expects every other nation to respect our copyrights.

  Actually, sites like TVshack haven't done anything wrong, as themselves haven't hosted any videos on the site. The users have made links to other sites that is hosting the videos. Nothing illegal there, at all!

You buy it, you own it, and you might even share it with your friends if you want to, after making a copy without the chickenshit warnings on it and setting the disc to be region free, of course.

  hi mike, I left out the part of the statement that said those in the film industry have "good, middle class jobs" but thought you may appreciate it for irony's sake. I believe some of these sites have resurfaced already. essentially what the US government is doing is flattening tires. There's always going to be a spare and it won't stop the truck from running, to coin a rubbish metaphor.

  i pay money to own movies on dvd/blue ray, plus i have an unlimited card for the cines! i use sites like these to watch tv that hasnt come out yet, coz britain gets shows like true blood and such like late! They always say people who watch stuff online are criminals! THATS NOT TRUE! there are people like me who spend hundred of money geting stuff when it comes out! but its not our problem if the tv companies cant pull their fingers out their arses and make it so movies and shows come out at the same time globally! if the government spend more money and time fixing this and less time fannying about stopping sites like this we wouldnt need to watch things online...would we now!!!

  I don't understand how free movies cost the US economy billion. You know what really costs the US economy billions? Stores, such as Home Depot, that have automated cashier registers instead of hiring people to work, and making SunPass mandatory instead of giving people jobs at the booth!

  As far as Hollywood, I agree with all the comments above. Some of the movies coming out now a days are complete garbage.

  Watching a movie online is no different than going to Redbox and renting one for $1. You're watching to see if you want to buy it. 90% of the movies I've watched on these sites I've actually bought, thus contributing to the entertainment industry. But by streaming my "rental" online I'm actually doing the planet a courtesy. No paper is wasted on the wrapping of a Netflix movie, no gas is wasted on driving to a store to rent a movie (or having a truck drive a movie across the country to deliver it into my mailbox), and thus there are less carbon emissions and fewer trees being chopped down for pointless reasons. So I am doing anything any harm when celebs are comfortable living in multi million dollar mansions and adopting 5 children from overseas? I think not.

The way I look at it its all data its basically about as invisible as thin air.   A recent study done in the United kingdom and America found that people who downloaded or viewed movies illegally online, or listened to music, were more likely to then go out and either watch it at the cinema or by the cd. seams only right that people should get to see first what it is they are buying, countless times i have bought a cd after listening to a track on the radio, only to find out that the rest of the CD is complete crap. as for watching movie trailers, often it has been found that trailers don't portray the movie in its true form, so some times i have left the cinema somewhat disappointed, as far piracy, you show me anyone in the movie industry or music industry who has never recorded top of the pops or the top 40 hits off there radio onto a c90 tape and then shared it with there friends. Anyone who says piracy is wrong can go fook themselves, if people are gonna pay stupid money to watch a movie or buy a CD. its only fair that they see exactly what it is they are paying for. without the black market economy, the British economic system would fall flat on its arse, as with America. Just look at how much money was wiped off the fed when a few thousand immigrants went on strike for ONE day in America a few years ago, i think they lost about 2 billion dollars.

  Tvshack was one of the best websites in the world. True Blood was 1 of my fav tv shows. I'm only twelve but i love it. Season 3 just started on tvshack but then it got blocked.   TVshack is down yet again, just discovered it when i came home from work and tried to stream the season 5 finale of How I Met Your Mother.... All I have to say is, I can't afford to go out and buy all the music, movies, and seasons of shows that I am interested in.... So if we all bought everything, we would be dirt poor and the rich keep on getting richer. If the artists and actors really loved what they're doing and had a passion for it, all they would care about is that people are watching and listening, not how much money they make off of it. If they give s good enough performance to buy it, then I'll buy it. But earn it first before you complain about people streaming.
