An e-petition has been raised, calling on the government to strip benefits from those convicted of taking part in the current wave of UK riots.
The rather draconian measures have been suggested as part of a new e-petition system whereby the public can put policy suggestions in front of parliament.
According to the site, a total of 100,000 signatures are needed, after which the subject may be spoken about in a Commons debate. And the current total stands at 75,263.
The Department for Work and Pensions is on the receiving end of the following demands, which also ask to disregard any riot victims from contributing to the aftermath clean up:
“Any persons convicted of criminal acts during the current London riots should have all financial benefits removed,” the mob bellowed via the e-petition.
“No tax payer should have to contribute to those who have destroyed property, stolen from their community and shown a disregard for the country that provides for them.”
We reckon some MPs with a penchant for human rights might have something to say about that of course.
But with London now under mob control perhaps even such heavy handed and archaic punishments do not go far enough. As the country regresses back to the feudal system, complete with a serf uprising, some vigilante justice may need to be meted out to sort the country out.
Why not bring back the gallows that were once situated at tourist hotspot Marble Arch? Or erect some stocks in the middle of Tottenham and unleash a volley of rotten fruit at perpetrators?
TechEye spoke to one pitchfork-wielding yokel about why he signed the petition:
“I signed the petition because quite simply, the people who have taken part in the looting and destruction of their own communities need to be taught a bloody lesson,” he told us.
“They assume they are owed a living from the government.”
Of course since the inception of the e-petition many have used the service to lobby the government for such forward thinking initiatives as bringing back the death penalty. So it is perhaps unlikely that this will be taken wholly serious by politicians.
But if you would like to some vigilante justice then please step this way and cast your vote.
We must go on to ignore that if this were the case and they were in fact all poverty stricken lazy criminals then taking away their homes and means of living pushes them into further crime to survive, creating more victims... more hate... more crime... more victims... more hate...... the cycle never ends.
Given the total chaos, fear and damage these absolute idiots have created I doubt many would consider them facing such consequences as 'draconian'!
I fail to understand the mindset that suggests it is heavy-handed of people that work and pay taxes to support beneficiaries to consider removing those benefits - in both senses of the word! - when they wreck total chaos on their own neighbourhoods so they can have the latest track-pants and sneakers! Clearly the have their priorities sorted.
As for the comment above, of course it is not ONLY beneficiaries, that have committed these acts but to pretend that a large proportion are not from low-socio-economic backgrounds and are beneficiaries is to deny the truth! To support my sentiments if you've been paying attention to the news you will see that those who have been interviewing during the ensuing chaos are in fact providing us with evidence of being beneficiaries by making statements like "We can't get jobs, that's why we're doing this", "Its because they've brought in all these Polish immigrants so we can't find work, the government needs to know"..they're telling the public who they are! What is with the difficulty of accepting that many of these people are beneficiaries? And stating so? It doesn't cast judgment about ALL beneficiaries, just those IDIOTS that have committed these crimes.
I'm not suggesting that this is the answer because I agree it will only lead to more impoverishment but the UK has created a welfare culture and that has to stop. People, no matter what their current circumstances have the potential to grow, get educated and make a valuable contribution to society, the infrastructure needs to be in place to help them do so but first it needs to start with PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY, it is not someone else's fault that these idiots decided to vandalize and loot their own neighbourhoods, no-one is entitled to have things they didn't earn and this country has got to stop the lunacy of political correctness which stands in the way of making people accountable for their actions.
Otherwise, what will losing benefits do to a person that was probably only just getting by on the benefits? They're not going to think "oh dang, my fault, I'll just sit here and die" are they? No, they're going to find alternate methods of obtaining money and food that will cost you and I even more than just giving them the benefits in the first place.
Idiots.
