Z Corporation has launched a range of 3D printers, which it claims are affordable for designers, engineers, architects and students.

The ZPrinter 150, which prints in black and white, costs $14,900 while the colour ZPrinter 250 costs $24,900. Both are said to be small enough to fit into an average sized classroom or small office.

Both printers are claimed to print five to 10 times faster than other 3D printing technologies, as well as being able to print multiple, stacked models simultaneously.

They have a resolution of 300 x 450 dpi, a minimum feature size of 0.016 inches (0.4 mm) and a vertical build speed of 0.8 inch/hour (20 mm/hour). They also have automatic setup, automatic powder loading, and self-monitoring of materials and print status.

John Kawola, CEO, Z Corporation, said: "The price of ZPrinting is coming down to enable broader adoption by mainstream users."
