A patent applied for by Cupertino company Apple suggests the geniuses might be working on a version of the iPad that is in glorious 3D, without specs.

Apple is expected to introduce the iPad 3 in spring, but according to Apple Insider today, it is also working on a reference system that uses light and eye.

The idea is not new, but Apple Insider points to a device that will use a number of semiconductors inside a hand held that will produce a “Frenet” frame so that in real time the position of someone’s eyes can be detected.

It filed the patent application in 2010 but it has been published today, as you can see here.
