Toshiba announces 3D laptop and Android netbook - Toshiba

Toshiba has announced its 3D A665 laptop and Android-based AC100 netbook.

The A665 will run an Intel Core i7 processor and will house up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM and up to 500GB of hard drive space. It sports a 15.6-inch TrueBrite HD display with LED backlighting, with a screen resolution of 1,366x768 pixels.

It comes with a Nvidia GeForce GTS 350M graphics card and a Blu-ray RW drive capable ofplaying 3D Blu-ray content. It also comes with pre-installed 3D content and the hard drive comes with a 3D impact sensor. A pair of 3D glasses is thrown in for good measure, but Toshiba is touting it as a powerful multimedia system that works great in 2D as well.

The machine has three USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA port, a HDMI port, and a multi-card reader. It has Bluetooth 2.1, WLAN (802.11 b/g/n), and Gigabit Ethernet LAN.

It also comes with Harman Kardon stereo speakers, Dolby Advanced Audio, and Toshiba's Sleep-and-Music function, which allows you to listen to music through your laptop's speakers even while in sleep mode.

The A665 is expected to be released in July. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.

Toshiba also announced the AC100 netbook, which will run the Android 2.1 operating system instead of Windows.

It will have a 10.1-inch display and will run a Tegra processor and come with 512MB of RAM and  16GB SSD hard drive space, with option for expansion through SDHC cards. It will support full HD 1080p playback and comes with WLAN, Ethernet, and a HDMI port. A 1.3 megapixel webcam is thrown in for good measure.

The 3-cell battery will give an estimated four to five hours of runtime.

No release date or pricing have been announced.
