Rapid roundup of the day -

While most of the web is still a-buzz with AMD’s Radeon HD 7950 graphics, life goes on for the rest of the hardware sites.

Anandtech is taking a look at the NZXT Switch 810 PC case where it seems the enclosure has great potential, but ultimately falls short of perfection. There’s some serious constructive criticism there that NZXT can make notes and work into a revision product.

TweakTown has been testing out Sapphire’s Pure Black X79N motherboard. It’s a hardcore enthusiast ATX motherboard that sports six 16x PCIe slots (unrealistically, they aren’t dual-spaced), and Sapphire’s experience in this area is growing. Shane thinks the company is going the right way about it.

Legit Reviews is looking at a Deepcool Gamer Storm Dracula VGA cooler. It’s huge, highly-customisable and promises to bring down the temps on your GPU quite well. Two 140mm fans were seated to suck the heat out of these babies.

OCC has a NZXT Havik 120 CPU cooler in the lab. It’s a dual 120mm-fan solution that blow-dries anything in its way (and also includes the fans, by the way). OCC was quite impressed with the solid performance that ranked near its 140mm brethren.

Now we have a few more interesting articles… Chile Hardware is showing off a Sandy Bridge E 3960X CPU running on a Gigabyte X79-UD5 motherboard. This is one of those liquid-cooled out of the box setups that is ready to obliterate anything CHW throws at it… it’s a preview of the lab’s new test base.

Finally, Xbit Labs has a comparison of some Intel socket 2011 CPUs. These are: the i7-3820, the i7-2700K and the i7-3930K. Ilya had previously been unimpressed at the Intel enthusiast platform and the testing reinforces the fact that the i7-2700K is still your best choice without breaking the bank.

Finally, VR-Zone puts OCZ’s newest and shiniest kit through the test bench. The RevoDrive X2 240GB and the RevoDrive 3 X2 480 PCIe SSDs get to chew data at alarmingly fast speed. The X2 is in for a price cut that will make it a more attractive buy, but the performance is all on the X3.
