A glitch in the PlayStation network caused players of its trophy games to discover they weren't players of its trophy games anymore.
There's a bug in the network that screwed up the trophy sync process so that even if you were offline you still weren't able to play some games.
But the bug doesn't affect everyone with PlayStations - only the models before everything glot slimmer.
A message tweeted on the SonyPlaystation channel said followers confirmed that 120/250GB models of the PlayStation 3 are connecting normally.
Sony is "narrowing down the issue and continue to work to restore service to all", was the last bit of Twittery news.
The company is hoping to have a fix up and running by the time Americans log in to start playing their trophy sync games first thing this morning, US time.
And as you dont pay for PSN, QUIT BITCHIN, you want an inferior console and a network YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR, then go ahead and walk.

like if i try to play Wolfenstein 3D i just get this message saying somthing like "copryright protection data invailed" also the ps3 clock has reseted

the first time was when they gave us that faulty update a few summers back and that was the rare 60 gig model i had before and thanks to sonys screw up i had to get rid of it
my dad said he has all the current updates. i have no idea why its only effecting some ps3's... but that is unfortunately the case. and according to most of the threads i have been reading... the clock is part of the issue.
yeah, if these so called "zipper head" did not make the ps3 you dont have anything to play with in the first place.

Secondly, to anyone who's cursing out Sony over this issue - calm down. I can't count the number of friends who have gotten angry over the X-Box's "red circle of death," where they literally lose everything and maybe even have to buy a whole new system. Temporarily not being able to log into the PSN is an inconvenience, but not the end of the world. I'm a big MW2 fan, and yeah it sucks I can't get in, and as soon as it's on I'm back in there gunning for a headshot, but if I have to wait another day, I'm pretty sure I'll survive.
Here’s what’s going on right now: something with the PS3’s internal clock has borked in some pre-slim models. This is not a PSN issue; it has to do with your PS3’s clock. This clock is NOT related to the OS clock. It seems to be a leap year bug. Setting your clock ahead will do nothing. All PS3s around the world were affected at the exact same time.
Does this affect me?
-If you have a Slim PS3, you’re good to go. Continue playing it as normal.
-If you have a “fat” PS3, you may be affected. Some fat PS3s have worked ok, but it seems a good majority have been bugged.
What does this bug mean?
-If affected, your date and time has been set to a random past date. This prevents you from signing into PSN, playing any PSN games, or using any DLC. Your trophies will also not display correctly or be able to sync.
How do I fix it?
-You can’t. Even if you don’t sign into PSN, it won’t help. This is a hardware issue.
So, what do I do?
-Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the “bugged” day. On Monday around 6pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves…maybe.
-If that doesn’t work, we’ll need a firmware update from Sony, which should be a pretty important priority for them right now.
Did I lose my data/themes/etc?
Your save data/games/dlc/themes are fine. They’ll be fixed when the PS3 is fixed. Trophies are uncertain right now, but they’ll be fine if you’ve synced them before the PS3 was bugged. Unsynced trophies are an unknown right now.
If I have a bugged PS3, can I still use it?
It’s probably not a good idea, as I have no idea what will happen to the trophies you earn during the bugged time. Movies/media will work fine.

ya it sucks that my phat boy ps3 if down. I may lose trophies and game stats, but its a game, not reality. I play every thing on the hardest level available so now ill have to do it again. big deal if the game sucks ill skip it if its worth it ill play it wahahahahaha wahahahahahahah
as for x box vs ps3 i own both. X box owners got jerked, you pay less at first to be charged more over time. The joystick , blue ray and graphic quality on ps3 is superior hands down. X box has some games that ps3 does not have, as far as I know. Eternal Sonata I.E. was worth owning the x box all together.
but really being some one who came up on Atari playing combat , systems have come along way and soon a new one will replace the current models we have now.
What bothers me is the fact that most people would plug right into the matrix and live in a fantasy land instead of creating a better world. I hope this problem cant be fixed

I've also noticed that there have been a few dozen entries in this string that have said something to the effect of "screw you Sony - if you don't fix this, I'm getting an X-Box." Everyone is certainly entitled to be frustrated, but here's my take on those individuals' comments.
A. Sony doesn't run this website, so they can't hear you. It's all just amusing fodder for the rest of us to read.
B. It's an empty threat. You're not going to cough up the $500 for a new console, all the games you already like to play and the monthly subscription fees for XBox Live. People complain about their cell phone coverage all the time and threaten to leave, but 95% of them don't. Chances are, you're in that category.
C. This is the first major glitch I've seen in the system, and so many (angry) people here are making it sound like Sony is making devices that will set your house on fire or give you brain tumors.
D. Nobody's perfect, and nobody makes a 100% flawless device.
Screw the slim system they should be giving everyone who bought a fat piece of crap that system for free. I don't care about internal clocks or networks, I can't even play offline????
