Prices of notebooks and PC LCD panels are expected to rise by as much as six percent this month because there's a shortage of components, the Taipei Times reports.
Chi Mei Opto, Taiwan's second biggest LCD panel manufacturer, said that a shortage of labour and some components meant it had flat sales - that is flat as in not buoyant - last month.
The newspaper said that that the number one Taiwanese supplier of TFT LCDs - AU Optronics reported monthly sales up and double what they were for January last year.
It doesn't seem to have a shortage of labour nor of components.
