The Apple cargo cult is taking a bizarre spin in the Far East where Apple fanboys are making sure that they get the latest gear even after they are dead.
It is not that the queues outside iCon stores have suddenly be filled by hopping gadget-hungry ghosts, but rather something that people have noticed on graves.
In the East there is a tradition of placing food on graves so that the ghosts of the ancestors can eat. But equally there is also the idea that if you place an image of a physical object on the tomb the ghost somehow gets access to it. For many years the ancestors have been getting the latest model of a car and television sets.
Normally the images are burnt although some are just placed around the grave site.
Now it seems that there has been a flood of images of iPads appearing on the tombs of dead people. The idea appears to be to take the Apple cargo cult into the afterlife.
It is quite scary to think that, if there is an afterlife, that it might be populated with smug gits listening to Coldplay telling you that they are closer to god because they spent too much money on a keyboardless netbook.
It sounds too much like a hell that not even Dante could dream up. Probably safer to be an atheist.

A truth is never changing otherwise it is not a truth but a relative-truth, oka a gamble. Superstition is the conditioned state of the partial human and the more unconscious the individual is, the more susceptible he is to being conditioned before rebounding self-righteously to insist that his beliefs are real. If true, what will having the freedom to express do for these entities and those under their influence? To make them overly simple and superstitious like those Chinese who burn paper cars thereby despatching this gift to “Hell” for its intended. Even more enlightening is their “Hell Bank Notes”, which on being consumed by fire, will be directly wired to their intended’s bank account “down there”. Yes, choices indeed, will eet be a new house or millions more to spend. But do not be so quick to laugh because when one looks at “Churches” in the “West”, say, they are surrounded by graves. Where on earth did that idea came from? To enter their “Church”, the faithfuls have to wade past the malingering dead and their constant desire to be the life, soul and sympathy of any party. Talking of gadgets, facing and twitting, these lost ones do not need advanced technology to satiate their voyeuristic tendencies and other lingering addictions. And what of those “Catacombs”? The French being the first in the queue for everything sophisticated, having a graveyard under one’s capital is truly the height of sophistication. Pirouetting then akes on an entirely new meaning. Afterall, they have rights too, you know.
Of course, should the dead be gone forever and the non-material does not exists, then the partying, the plundering, and the destroying ought to continue unabated. It might be a hard pill to swallow but the gangsters and the crooks are correct all along. So, what is everybody waiting for, eh? Which hypocritical, insincere, and destructive control-freak-cum-abandoned Righting This & That nut demands that everybody should have a say so long as they say it democratically? The one who assumes divinity because of his inability to realised that Divinity is not only real but is for real. If only death means the end to one’s divine aspirations, then humanity’s problems are a step closer to resolving but should there be a realm which exists, is invisible to all but is all-pervading, being conditioned then has an entirely new and deadly meaning. To be superstitious, oka being religious. Like being sent a new Paddy-Poddy when the old model is no longer desirable.
What will freedom and elections do for those whose religion/religiosity is gadgetry? To be free to vote for one’s saviour, of course, thereby becoming a saviour too when the new gadget, complemented by the signed photo of one’s saviour, is displayed for the less privileged to envy. It is benevolent to realise that freedom is merely the test for maturity/morality if only because maturity is the one and only authority who will gift one’s real freedom. A chicken and egg situation? Not when you are truly authoritative, authority being the gateway to one’s true freedom and not the one who grants others their freedom. This is because, as advised by Grandma, that Charity Begins At Home, charity being the construction or destruction the individual gifts to others after having firstly gifted the same to himself. Tell that to the zillionaires who are always throwing money at problems, ‘finking that charity is a function of “Dollahs”/Might - buying one’s way into the next dimension, immortality. How superstitious.
