Taiwanese firm Transcend said it has introduced 8GB DDR3-1066 Registered DIMM modules, aimed at the blade server space.

The modules offer bandwidth up to 8.5GB/s and the ability to expand maximum capacity to 48GB per processor.

The RDIMMs are 0.74 inches high and if they're used with Intel's Nehalem based Xeon servers, system administrators can max memory bandwidth to 10.6GB/s.

The modules use 256Mx8 DDR3 FBGA chips and incorporate a ten layer printer circuit board (PCB) and an aluminium heat sink. No details of pricing were supplied.
