ACS Law, the allegedly dodgy firm with an itchy legal trigger finger, could finally be taken to the cleaners itself after a long running Which? Magazine campaign to bring its morally suspect dealings to light.
Its last escapade, which we reported on here had it bully the average Joe by sending out intimidating questionnaires it hoped respondents would answer out of fear and then incriminate themselves with.
Recipients were under absolutely no legal obligation to reply but the ACS Law letters were full of legal talk and strong words. It also asked to confirm that the recipient was the owner of the internet connection, whether their wireless networks were secured and boldly demanding to know if anyone in the household uses BitTorrent.
ACS Law's Andrew Crossley could now be pushed on to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT), referred by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for his "bullying and excessive" conduct on behalf of some copyright holders, including Reality Pump and Topware Interactive. Topware Interactive is behind blockbuster videogame Dream Pinball 3D, while Reality Pump is behind the flop role-playing game Two Worlds.
Deborah Prince, Which? Magazine's legal boffin, said in a statement: "We welcome this decision because we've received so many complaints from consumers who believe they have been treated appallingly by this law firm. We also believe that it's time for the profession to take action against law firms, and those responsible for them, which behave in a way we believe most right-thinking people would view as both aggressive and bullying."
Which translates to, in laymens: "HA! We got you, you bastards!"
When asking why they are continuing to take money by DD they found that I had not been invoiced for electricity for over 4 years. They said that an invoice would be raised for one year as that is now all they can do and I would get a cash return. Yesterday I had a call saying I should have paid £1800 so as I had only been debited just under £1100 we could call ot quits and close thy account.
Could yopu please inform me of my legal rights.
Yours faithfully
