Google nearly has Nortel's patents after a court approved the company's $900 million bid. However, it could still be pipped to the post.
The company has been stalking Nortel ever since it announced that it would be selling off its 6,000 patents and patent applications early last month. It wants Nortel's patent portolio, which included data networking, wireless, 4g, voice and semiconductors.
However, it was up against some tough competition and only got its wicked way after rounds of bidding involving other companies.
Google should keep that champagne on ice for a bit longer.
They have until 20 June to make an offer past Google's stalking bid.
